Terms of Service
Last updated
These terms cover the UnityIDE desktop application, the Unity editor package, and the website at unityide.app. By downloading, installing or using any of them, you agree to them. If you do not, do not use UnityIDE.
Licence
UnityIDE is proprietary software. Subject to these terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use it on machines you control, for your own projects — personal or commercial.
You may not:
- redistribute, resell, sublicense or host UnityIDE as a service;
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except where that restriction is unenforceable under applicable law;
- remove or alter any licensing, attribution or ownership notices;
- circumvent plan limits, metering, authentication, or any technical measure that enforces them.
We retain all rights not expressly granted. Third-party components bundled with UnityIDE remain under their own licences.
Your code stays yours
You keep all rights to the projects, source code and assets you work on in UnityIDE. You grant us only the narrow, temporary permission needed to process that content in order to deliver a feature you invoked — principally sending a prompt and its context to a model provider when you use an AI feature, as described in the Privacy Policy. We do not use your code to train models.
Accounts
Some features require an account. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for everything done through your account. Accounts are for a single person; do not share them. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
Plans and billing
- UnityIDE is free to download and use on its free tier. Paid plans unlock higher usage limits and additional model tiers.
- Paid plans are processed by Dodo Payments as merchant of record. Their terms govern the payment transaction itself.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Cancelling stops future renewals; your plan remains active until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- Prices may change. We will give notice before a change affects an existing subscription, and you may cancel rather than accept it.
- Usage is metered. If you exhaust a plan's allowance, AI features may be limited until the allowance resets or you upgrade.
AI features
UnityIDE's AI features generate suggestions, explanations and code. They are probabilistic, and they can be confidently wrong. You are responsible for reviewing and testing anything the AI produces before you rely on it, commit it, or ship it. We make no warranty that generated output is correct, secure, performant, or free of third-party rights.
You must not use the AI features to generate unlawful content, to infringe someone else's rights, or to attempt to extract the underlying models, prompts or provider credentials.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use UnityIDE to:
- break the law, or help someone else do so;
- infringe intellectual property or privacy rights;
- attack, overload, probe or disrupt our infrastructure or that of our providers, including by automating requests beyond normal interactive use;
- develop or distribute malware.
Availability and changes to the product
UnityIDE is under active development. Features may be added, changed or removed, and the service may be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. We do not guarantee any particular uptime.
Unity trademark
UnityIDE is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Unity Technologies. Unity is a trademark of Unity Technologies, used here only to describe what this software is compatible with.
Disclaimer of warranties
UnityIDE is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted or error-free operation. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties; in those places this section applies to the fullest extent permitted.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for lost profits, lost revenue, or lost or corrupted data or project files, arising out of or relating to your use of UnityIDE.
Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to UnityIDE is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or ten United States dollars.
Keep your work in version control and keep backups. An IDE writes to your files; that is its job.
Termination
You may stop using UnityIDE and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms, if required by law, or if your use threatens the integrity of the service. On termination your licence ends and you must stop using the software.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing here removes a consumer protection you have under the mandatory law of the country you live in.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows the last change. Continuing to use UnityIDE after an update means you accept it.
