About UnityIDE
UnityIDE is a dedicated IDE for Unity development, combining C# editing, Unity asset workflows, and AI assistance connected to your running Unity Editor.
Who publishes it
UnityIDE is developed and distributed by Unity IDE, based in India. We are an independent software publisher. UnityIDE is our own product — we develop it and distribute the official releases.
Reach us at [email protected] for support, security reports, press, or anything about the data we hold.
Official distribution
Updater signature verification is separate from operating-system publisher signing. The Windows installer is not yet publisher-signed, and the Apple Silicon macOS build is ad-hoc signed and marked Beta. See the installation guide for current requirements and platform-specific instructions.
unityide.app is the only official source for UnityIDE. Every genuine build is served from our own domain:
| Platform | Official download |
|---|---|
| Windows | releases.unityide.app/latest/UnityIDESetup.exe |
| macOS (Apple silicon) | releases.unityide.app/latest/UnityIDE-arm64.dmg |
| Unity package | releases.unityide.app/unity-extension-releases/latest/com.unityide.editor.tgz |
If you obtained UnityIDE anywhere else — a download portal, a mirror, a torrent, a bundled installer — it is not a build we published, and we cannot vouch for what is in it. Download it again from the links above.
What you get, and what you don't
- UnityIDE is free to download and use. No payment details are required to install it or to work in it. Paid subscription tiers exist and unlock higher AI usage limits and additional model tiers; the editor itself does not expire.
- Nothing is bundled. Our installers contain UnityIDE and nothing else — no toolbars, no browser extensions, no search hijacking, no third-party offers, no additional software presented during setup.
- No hidden data collection. Exactly what we collect, and who else receives it, is itemised field by field in our Privacy Policy — including the section on AI features, which is explicit that your prompts and the surrounding code are sent to model providers.
- Uninstall normally. UnityIDE removes through the standard uninstaller on Windows and by deleting the application on macOS. Nothing is left running.
Independence
UnityIDE is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Unity Technologies. Unity is a trademark of Unity Technologies, used here only to describe the engine this software is built to work with.
About our guides
Product guides and comparisons are written by the UnityIDE team. We identify the documentation used, distinguish documented capabilities from hands-on tests, and state the versions covered by recorded tests. Comparisons are published by the maker of UnityIDE; they are not independent reviews. Report corrections through our feedback form.
